Privacy Policy

EconShot is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the app's features, and we never sell or share your information with third parties for advertising or tracking purposes.

Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:

• Cached economic data from FRED, BLS, World Bank, and Treasury APIs (stored in SwiftData)
• Chart configurations, annotations, and saved charts
• Brand settings (colors, logo, handles, source citation format)
• Tracked dashboard indicators
• Recently viewed series history

This data never leaves your device except when you explicitly share or post a chart.

API Connections

EconShot connects to the following public data APIs to fetch economic data:

• FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data) — api.stlouisfed.org
• BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) — api.bls.gov
• World Bank — api.worldbank.org
• US Treasury — api.fiscaldata.treasury.gov

Requests to FRED and BLS are proxied through our server (api.econshot.app) so that API keys are managed on your behalf and you don't need to register for your own. Your IP address is visible to these services when requests are made. We do not log, store, or analyze your API queries on our server.

Optional: Your Own API Keys (BYOK)

If you choose to enter your own FRED or BLS API keys in Settings, they are stored exclusively in your device's Keychain (Apple's encrypted credential storage). They are never transmitted to our servers.

LinkedIn Integration (Optional)

If you choose to connect your LinkedIn account for one-tap posting, the following data is collected:

• Email address — used to identify your LinkedIn account
• Display name — shown in the app's Settings to confirm which account is connected
• User ID (sub) — used to construct your LinkedIn person URN for posting
• Access token — used to authenticate posts to your LinkedIn feed

All LinkedIn credentials are stored in your device's Keychain. They are used solely for posting charts to your LinkedIn feed on your behalf. You can disconnect your LinkedIn account at any time in Settings, which removes all stored credentials.

The OAuth authorization flow is handled through LinkedIn's official authentication page. Our server (api.econshot.app) acts as the OAuth callback to exchange the authorization code for an access token, which is then passed directly to your device. We do not store your LinkedIn credentials on our server.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple via StoreKit 2. We receive only your entitlement status (whether you have an active Pro subscription). We never receive or store any payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID credentials.

Email Waitlist

If you sign up for our launch waitlist on this website, we store your email address to notify you when EconShot is available. We will not share your email with third parties or use it for any purpose other than the launch notification. You can request deletion of your email at any time by contacting [email protected].

No Tracking

EconShot does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking technologies. Specifically:

• No analytics (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar)
• No ad networks
• No tracking domains
• No device fingerprinting
• NSPrivacyTracking is set to false in our privacy manifest

Data Deletion

All app data is stored on your device. To delete it, simply delete the app. Specifically:

• App data (charts, settings, cached data): Deleted when you uninstall the app
• LinkedIn credentials: Disconnect in Settings before uninstalling, or they will be removed with the app's Keychain items
• API keys (BYOK): Removed with the app's Keychain items on uninstall
• Waitlist email: Contact [email protected] to request deletion

Children's Privacy

EconShot is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
